Secon grade students recently completed a Community Unit with a letter writing campaign to Alderman Cardenas and State Senator Martin Sandoval to complain about an abandoned, burbt-out building at the southeast corner of 36th & Rockwell. The Senator invited the students to attend a demolition hearing at the Daley Center on April 24th. The judge heard arguments and decided to have the building demolished. Students celebrated their accomplishment with a tour of a jury courtroom, and lunch in the food court of The State of Illinois Building.
